What are the requirements for opening a personal transactions / salary account?

To open a Personal Transaction Account you need to have your Original ID and a copy, complete an account opening forms at a branch or agent near you.

 

Why do accounts fall dormant?

Accounts fall dormant after six months of no transactions i. e either deposits or withdrawals. This is done to protect the customers' money until they return to use their account actively. Cash deposits can be made into a dormant account but for withdrawals and cheque deposits, the customer has to activate the account first.

Can I access my account online?

You can access your Account online via our Internet Banking Platform or the mobile banking known as Eazzy 24/7. 

 

 

Eazzy 24/7 is ideal for all personal accounts; you can register at any of our branches or agents. Registration is free, you will be able to perform a wide range of services using your phone wherever you may be. Eazzy 24/7 offers a low tariff rate for various transaction services offered on the service e.g. Ugs 292 per transaction.

 

 

Internet banking is ideal for business, groups or individual who would prefer to view and transact on their accounts from a computer screens.  This service offers a wide range of banking service at the convenience of your home or office. There are two level of internet banking i.e. retail and corporate e-banking to address varying needs of businesses.

Can I get my statements via email?

Yes, you can get your statements via email if you had provided an email address when you opened your account. To start receiving your account via email, Customercare@equitybank.co.ke

 

 

To update the email address in your account, visit your branch with your original ID and a copy and fill in a Static Data Change Form and also request that your statements be sent via your email at a frequency of your choice.

How much do you charge to operate your accounts?

We do not charge ledger fees on our accounts, you only pay for the services you use i.e. for cash withdrawal in the branch we charge Ugs 1,458, at the ATMs Ugs 874.  This means when you do not use your account, there will be no charges to it.

Do you have children’s accounts and how do I open one?

We have different children accounts to cater for children of various ages. Visit any of our branches to be advised of the product that is best suited for your child. For children under age 18, you need: Guardian/Parent’s original ID card and copy, the Child’s original birth certificate and a copy, minimum deposit of Ugs 5,832.

I have lost my card, what should I do?

The first thing you should do is to visit a branch near you or call the bank to block your card, this will prevent misuse of your card and secure funds in your account. Our contact centre numbers are at all ATM locations, they are 020 -2744000, 0711 025000 or 0734 180000.  If you are registered on Eazzy247, to the service, select other service then stop card. To replace the lost card, visit the nearest branch to apply for replacement of the lost card.

I wish to update my postal address and phone number - how do i do it?

To update your Postal address or phone number, kindly visit your branch with your Original ID and a copy, fill static data change forms. While there, ask the bank officer to update you on banking services you can access using your phone or internet.

How much loan do I qualify for?

The amount of loan you qualify for depends on how much money you can commit to repaying the loan every month. Other factors will be the type of loan applied, the purpose of the loan and duration.

Besides Equity ATMs where else can I use my ATM card?

You can use your ATM card to deposit and withdraw cash at our Agent locations all over the country; you could also use your ATM card to pay for goods and services at various outlets, stores/supermarkets at no charge. You can also withdraw cash from your account as you shop at selected outlets.

What types of loans are available for customers?

Funds Based: Salary loans, Development loans, Working capital loans,  Asset finance loans, Bank drafts, LPO financing, Contact Financing, Commodity financing, Structured Trade Finance, Post Import Finance, Pre-Shipment Finance.

Non fund based: Bank Guarantees (Supplier Credit Guarantees, APG, PG, BB, RG etc.) and Letters Of Credit.

Do you offer fixed deposit accounts and what are your rates, terms and conditions currently

Yes, For rates, terms and Conditions inquiries, visit the nearest Equity bank branch.

 

Do you open accounts for foreigners/ alien and what do you require (Non Ugandan account Opening Procedures)

Yes we do, Visit any branch with a Valid Passport and a Valid Visa and Reference letter from the embassy.

Do you offer custodial services in your bank

Yes, The charges are UGShs. 30,000 per Quarter (Per Three months)

Can I transfer my account from one branch to another; What are the charges?

Yes, There no charges to transfer an account, Its Free of charge.

How do I change the mandate of my/our account?

You need to visit your mother branch with the necessary documents for any change of account Mandate.

Incase I need to transfer my money to another bank, what is the procedure?

Visit the nearest branch for the transfer request, You may transfer through the various modes; EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer), RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement) and SWIFT (For transfers outside Uganda).

If I travel to Kenya can I access my Ugandan account while there?

Yes, You can access your account using a Visa Card.

 

Can one link two or more accounts to one ATM CARD?

Yes, you need to visit any branch to make the request.

How can I reset the pin trials for my ATM CARD?

You can call Contact Center Numbers or Visit the Nearest Equity bank branch for assistance.

Can I use my Visa card from another bank to withdrawal on your ATM machines?

Yes, You can use your visa card to transact from any visa branded ATM. From our ATMS Its UGShs.600 and from another bank ATMS Its UGShs.6000

It Takes Three (3) years to expire and the renewal charges are Visa card application Fees is UGShs. 10,000 and Auto branch card is UGShs. 7500

What is the ATM replacements Fee incase I Loose or damage my card?

ATM Card replacement charge is at UGShs. 15, 000 for Visa Card and Auto Branch Card is UGShs. 10, 000.

What is the ATM Card Application Fee?

Visa card application Fees is UGShs. 10,000 and Auto branch card is UGShs. 750

Visit the nearest Equity bank branch or an Agent with your National ID and a copy, Fill in a Dormant account reaction form and the account would be activated immediately.
